Well folks I'm sorry to tell you that I have moved. I'm in Hamilton now. I had no choice as the Anthony's decided to sell the house in Rosedale. They are planning on moving permanently to their Florida property. I chose Hamilton because it's closer to some family and the rents are almost half what they are in Toronto. So who knows... maybe I will wind up starting an RCMP chapter in Hammy. hehehe Well as my tag line says... "keep your wheels on the road and the bugs outta your teeth". Take care everyone. It's been a pleasure riding with you.

It has been quite a long time since I've posted on here. I hope everyone is doing well.

I haven't been riding as much as I used to. I still have my old silver Bullet. It's running faster than ever. My odometer now reads over 23,000 kms. With new rings and port and polished intake and exhaust the ped goes like a bullet. It would be nice to go for a ride with you all.

I don't know if any one is aware that Tomos came out with an all new line up of mopeds and scooters for 2008. All Tomos mopeds now come with the A55 engine. At this time there's stock on red LX's, Streetmate R's, red Velo 150's, black and red Nitro 50's and blue Nitro 150's.

Hey guys, how's it going? I've been moped-deprived for a while now and feeling it.

Been trying to maybe get the old moby back on the road (the Streetmate is not going anywhere for a long while... gave it to my dad, and then it got run over).

I need to buy a generic 12-volt ignition coil, suitable as a replacement for the Moby (50-70 cc, 2-stroke, etc.). Does anybody know where I can pick one of these up? You can get cheap HUGE ones for cars, but they're way too large, physically. I don't need the original one, just a generic will do fine. I've even seen pictures of Mobys with new generic brass-cased ignition coils, so I know it can be done.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

Well, folks, the time has come. I'm moving out of my big house to a smaller place, and don't have the room for all the stuff I've been hoarding. So I was thinking about having a moped yard sale in April. I'm not getting rid of all my bikes (my Batavus HS50 and Garelli's will have to be pried out of my cold, dead hands) but I do have a nice Batavus Bingo, a couple frames, some manuals and a lot of parts that I'm going to get rid of.

Anyway, I thought we could make it a group thing...... bring what you don't need and swap or sell it. Any interest?

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday time. Shame about all the snow but atleast this gives us time to fix the bikes we enjoy so much :D

I know it was a while ago but I finally got around to posting some pics from the ride we held up here in Barrie over the summer. Our 3 bikes parked outside a local outdoors/surplus store in downtown barrie. I hope to hold more rides this summer and hopefully more people will show up!

I would very much like to actually do an over night trip up to Tobermory, so anyone interested in throwing some camping gear on their bikes at putting 600km on their bikes let me know!

Also I am working on a Puch Maxi Project and I need some parts, if anyone has some maxi parts they can part (pun intended) with please let me know!

Hello there fellow mopedeers, It has been quite a long time since we met. It's been a long time since I've posted anything on here.
I was gonna propose we meet this weekend for a ride, but the forecast looks bad, cold and wet.
I hope everyone had a nice summer. I know I did.
I'm still riding my Bullet, still in business. The health is good, thank God.

Well, that's all I have to say. Hopefully there will be one more freakishly hot day on which to meet for a ride.

On the 1st of September starting around 10am or around that time there will be a ride happening up in Barrie hosted by the Southern Ontario Mopeders.
It is being organized by Niss, his email is : niss_guy at rogers dot com , he is starting to get some of the barrie moped riders together and it would be great to see some RCMP representation up there for this event.

Hi Folks,

Been out of circulation due to….in the quaint phrasing of the medical community a “Minor Unexplainable Cardiac Incident”. It all started on Sunday, with chest pains, severe enough to wake me up at 4am. They have done every test in the book, and then some. They still can’t explain it. So I am on 10 days of bed rest, and I am currently on day 5. It is driving me nuts, to be bedridden.

Keep riding folks, I am jealous!

Totally off topic here - just wanted to invite you all to come and see my roller derby team beat the pants off (hopefully) the Bay Street Bruisers on Saturday. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. You can get them from me in advance if you like, or I can leave them at will call.

George Bell Arena is at St. Clair & Runnymede (215 Ryding Ave) and the game starts at 7.

Today was a lovely day for a moped ride. I met up with some friends, and on my way home went to stop at the IGA to pick up some dog food. A cop had been following me for about 8 blocks and he pulled me over in the parking lot. Of course, I had forgotten to renew my sticker in September, and, being a smarty-pants, had left my ownership and insurance slip at home. The results are as follows:

Sticker out of date = $110
Failure to produce ownership = $110
Failure to produce insurance slip = $70
Grand total = $290 and an hour long lecture.

Whoopee! And I thought I could spend tomorrow, which is my last day of freedom before I go back to working 60 hour weeks , relaxing. Now I have to go get a court date and new stickers and blah, blah, blah.

Okay, now that I'm no longer out in the sticks, I want to switch my insurance with someone downtown. I'll probably save money this way too.

I only have the LSM License, so this is contingent on insurers who will insure under that license. Other than that I have no other vehicles (right now) and a clean record. What are you folks paying and who are you paying it to?

P.S. I haven't been coming out on Sundays even thoug I'm downtown now because I now work on Sundays all day. :/

So first time really back out on a moped, I took the HS50 for a cruise on Sunday after work and promptly lost the license plate. NICE! Now I have to go report it lost and get all these forms to get another one. Good job me!! I did have fun riding again though, although I have to admit it's a little nervewracking. I'm terrified that nobody will see me. Gotta get me one of those air horns like Brent has! But no more riding until I get another stupid plate now anyway! Hopefully I can get it all done tomorrow. Just brought the Garelli home. It's been in the back room of my bar since the accident. The front end is pretty mashed up. It seems like the forks somehow sank into themselves a bit, and it doesn't turn left anymore. You can only turn the handlebars left a bit. Which is annoying since the front wheel has turned to the right. Sad day. But it still runs pretty good! I'll take some pics of the damge tomorrow.

Sunday's Ride

Well the "bunch" turned out to be myself, Paul, Lars and Jann. We headed out to Leaside and took a tour of the industrial park area,down into Taylor Park and then back to my place. While in the park we found a whole group of people carrying on a Cricket match who had taken over one of the parking lots. It was a bit of a short run but it was fun anyway. I found a guy who wants to ride with us. He heard about us from Lars last year but lost trak. More importantly though is he has a 1985 Honda MOPED for sale. He is asking only $500 bucks for it. I've been to see it and it runs beautifully. It's not too great in the looks dept. as someone in the past poorly painted the gas tank a solid white. I won't be riding for at least a couple weeks. I got hit pretty badly last night and they think my knee might be fractured. More details to come after I see the fracture specialist. Let me tell ya folks, I am NOT in a good mood.

I got the citizenship card! Just in the nick of time! Gotta head down to the passport office tomorrow and extend my passport and I am all set to cross the border again. SO...........who wants to go to Michigan? Let's do it! I wanna go so bad. Can we figure it out? I haven't registered with the Ghost Ride yet because I wasn't sure I'd have the card in time, but now that I have it, I so want to go. Who's got a car? A truck? A van? Let's do this!! Post here or call me and we can figure it out. The rally is Saturday and Sunday so we could leave Friday night or super early Saturday morning and come back Sunday night or Monday. Doesn't matter to me. I just want to go and ride mopeds with those guys.

Yup, Canadian tire has them on sale again. Lots of the time they're not on the shelf since they only put one on display at a time and people are buying them fast. Now I can finally fix my center stand and maybe add a secure carrier on the back.

I made a blower out of an old 12v dustbuster. It produced a huge abount of strong airflow. Alais it didn't work since it cancelled out the suction that adds the fuel to the mix. I then put propaine directly into the blower it was able to run off that just fine. I'm thinking of putting in a fuel injector or putting a carb on the intake and maybe hooking it up so that the blower speed is proportional to the engine speed.

This Weeks Ride

This week's ride was great, we had a couple new faces, finally all met Jan, and Lisa who we met at the Scooter Rally came out on her Honda. I took my Batavus Bingo for it's first ever RCMP ride. Breakfast as usual at Squirly's and then a bit of a ride. We found a fair going on at the CNE so stopped to jump on the bouncy castle and then rode a little more. Myself, Brent, Martin and Darcy ended up at my house to check out the progress on my Batavus HS50. I rode it to work last night and it did nicely! Although I have a hard time trusting it because I've had so many problems with it. Oh, and I think I'm in love. She doesn't have a name but she's a yellow Honda Passport and I think I'm smitten:)

Well, now that Clementine's running nicely again, I took her out for a ride and of course got caught in a torrential downpour. What are we gonna do about this week? I'm out of town tomorrow and they're calling for thunderstorms again on Sunday. I need my RCMP fix!!

Ghost Ride

So if my stupid citizenship card gets here in time (which I've been promised by Citizenship and Immigration that it will) I'm heading on down to the Ghost Ride in Grand Rapids. I wanna know if anyone else is up for it! It should be tons of fun, an opportunity to meet lots of other moped riders and a wicked ride. The Ghost Riders are offering places to stay and if we let them know quickly they might have some loaner peds. So let me know................do any of you want to come down with me? We could drive down, rent a van, a trailer, whatever.

Thanks to Brent my little Batavus Bingo is back on the road and I'l like to bring her out (even though it has NO suspension and I have a wickedly bruised tailbone from derby practice on Wednesday).

Best Ride EVER!!

Today was the 2nd annual Alpha Scoot, the rally put on by the Toronto Vintage Scooter Club. They invited the RCMP and so four of us went out today. Holy crap, it was seriously like the most fun day I’ve had in forever!

There were 77 (Bruce’s count) scooters and 4 mopeds. We met at a pub near Cherry Beach and hung out for a while meeting everyone and stuff, then went on a wicked ride. Everyone was so cool, really nice people and it was great to be in the middle of the ride.

Whether I looked in front or behind, all I could see was scooters. It was awesome. Plus it was the first time we saw Stan’s fancy new paint job in person, and it looks sweet!

After the ride we came back to the pub and had some lunch, then it was time for the scooter gymkhana, which yours truly won third place in on a moped! I might have done better but I had a penalty for doing it on a moped:)

Then they gave out prizes for best restoration, is that heap safe, etc. These guys are the winners.

All in all it was a freaking awesome day. We met some cool new people and saw a ton of cool bikes. It was great! Makes me hope even more that I can go to the Grand Rapids ride (which I think I can) because if it was so awesome to ride with all those scooters, I really can’t wait to ride with a shitload of mopeds!

Scooter Run

OK, so the Toronto Vintage scooter run is in the morning. For anyone who is going, there is breakfast at the Keating Channel Pub at 10:30am and then the ride leaves from that location at 11:30 sharp! Gimme a call if you're going so we can meet up. I'll be there for sure, I can't wait! Hope to see some of y'all there too.

Why I haven't been out...

Hi y'all... I haven't been out for a number of reasons. Sparing details about my dramatic personal life (which has finally settled down) the main reason is because I was in a moped accident two months ago. Yeppers, yours truly got hit; thankfully my 'ped was spared and I got hurt instead! Problem is that I am scared sh!tless to get on the thing now. I had to get my ex to ride zoom-zoom girl up to my new place because I couldn't do it... I'm hoping that in the next couple of weeks that Freddie will come to my place and take me out for an escorted slow ride through my neighbourhood to get me used to riding again so I can show up for a ride or two with youse guys. I just thought it was time to 'fess up to what a wiener I am...

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came and we missed those who could'nt make it. I think everyone had a good time as evidenced by hard it was to get Lindsay out of the pool! ;o} I was going to give out a special shout out to everyone who brought supplies but that's everyone who showed up. Bloor on the Park Street Party!

Hot Times in the Olde Towne

Well this is it folks, the forecast for this Saturday's pool party is hot..Hot..HOT! So why not spend it lounging and swimming (bring your own towel please)at a Mansion in Rosedale. It's a BYOB (drink responsibly please) and if you can please bring a snack or pop. There will be some food to BBQ but since we don't know exactly how many are coming, friends and family are welcome, be prepared to chip in for additional burgers etc. Below is a link to Mapquest for those whom have not been here before.

Surprise Guest!

Had a nice little brunch at Squirly's today. It was just four of us (myself, Brent, Paul and Darcy) and I was in the middle of saying that I would have to leave early to meet my mom when she showed up! The four of us gave her and my brother an RCMP escort up to Yonge & Eglinton where the two of us left to go see a movie and the boys continued on their ride. Best part of it all? These pics of my mother on a moped! I couldn't believe it!

I especially like that last one of her and Brent. Sometimes my mom is awesome.
