Today was a lovely day for a moped ride. I met up with some friends, and on my way home went to stop at the IGA to pick up some dog food. A cop had been following me for about 8 blocks and he pulled me over in the parking lot. Of course, I had forgotten to renew my sticker in September, and, being a smarty-pants, had left my ownership and insurance slip at home. The results are as follows:
Sticker out of date = $110
Failure to produce ownership = $110
Failure to produce insurance slip = $70
Grand total = $290 and an hour long lecture.
Whoopee! And I thought I could spend tomorrow, which is my last day of freedom before I go back to working 60 hour weeks , relaxing. Now I have to go get a court date and new stickers and blah, blah, blah.

That sucks! Driving around I see all kinds of cars with expired tags....one guy hadn't bought one since 1990!
Easier to pick on mopeds I guess!

that so totally sucks... get the court date and then contact one of the ticket fighters.. I used X copper , cost but the deal was they win or they pay. Saved my bacon because they won. Check them out it might be an option. I'd fight it personally

How easy is it to fight that kind of thing? What kind of defence can you put together?

My two cents, I thought you had 72 hours to show up at your local cop shop and produce the ownership and insurance certificate and they would cancel those two tickets? Or is my info out of date?

took it to the cop shop and it did nothing. s'ok, the cop said if i bring it to the court date he'll cancel them. i'll just get nailed on the sticker, which is totally my own fault so i'm willing to pay it.

I had bought my new tag and forgot to put it on, and I had the new tag on me, still go the ticket.
They really seem to like to pick on mopeds.
